Rosa Protégé Serum is a powerful Anti- Oxidant , Moisturiser with a 25 – 30 SPF.  Free radical pollutants and photo aging (Ultraviolet sun rays) are the greatest causes of aging to the skin. Rosa Protégé has been carefully researched to source ingredients that are entirely natural and yet provide the protection vital for healthy, youthful looking skin. 

Rosa Protégé contains Gevuina Avellana (Chilean Hazelnut Oil) and the essential oils Eugenia Aromatica (Clove) & Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme).  Chilean Hazelnut is rich in anti-oxidants and is a good source of Vitamin E and beta carotene. It also contains the rare Palmitoleic Acid (Omega 7). Clove and Thyme have potent anti-oxidant properties, with Clove topping the list with an ORAC (oxygen radical absorption capacity) score of 10,786, 875. The next on the list is Thyme with a score of 159,590. 

Palmitoleic Acid is present in the sebum and is at its highest concentration in children and young adults. A function of Palmitoleic Acid is to protect the protein structure of the skin and to prevent moisture loss.  As we age Palmitoleic Acid or Omega 7 drops off dramatically. It is very difficult to source this valuable EFA in nature and this is what makes it so rare. The percentage of Palmitoleic in Rosa Protégé measures between 25% – 28% which is extremely high.  In young adults the percentage present in the sebum measures approximately 22%.  

Sun Protection: Gevuina Oil has a UVB protection factor of 280 nm - 320 nm.  It also blocks the UV rays which penetrate deep into the skin. In lay terms this means that it offers moderate (SPF 25) protection. However, research has revealed that antioxidants will prevent sun damage and some sun screen preparations work on this principle alone. Rosa Protégé has a high anti-oxidant rating. It contains Vitamin E which has been found to be more effective than Vitamin C in protecting against the UV free radical damage. Likewise, Vitamin A will reverse the sun burn and prevent damage. Rosa Protége offers protection on three fronts 1) protection against UV rays 2) prevention of free radical damage 3) reversal of sun burn. However, if you are going to be in the sun for a prolonged time, use a high factor OTC sun block or one prescribed by your dermatologist.  For daily use, the protection factor in Rosa Protégé is excellent. 

Other benefits besides the anti-oxidant and sun protection factors are:  prevents against moisture loss, assists in the cellular renewal process and the presence of Oleic Acid (26%) indicates that it has firming properties as well.

How to use: Apply at least once daily, preferably in the morning. At night use Rosanique or Silhouette. If your skin is stressed, then we suggest that you apply Rosanique first, wait a few minutes for this to absorb, and then apply Rosa Protégé.

 
Precautions: There are no known contra indications for Gevuina Oil.  It is well tolerated by all skin types.  However, Eugenia Aromatica (Clove) contains Eugenol which is a phenolic compound. The ratio to volume in Rosa Protégé adheres to scientifically tested safety levels but we suggest that people who are sensitive to Eugenol test a small area first.  There is also insufficient evidence to suggest that Eugenol is safe for use by pregnant women.
